” When I first started therapy with Marielena, I was battling 20+ years of pent-up trauma. I completely hated myself. I now have some self-esteem as I’m still trying to grow in this area. In addition to this, 12 years after a very serious automobile accident where I should not have survived, I began experiencing daily severe pain. Being stuck in severe pain daily is very challenging, and it’s more than just being in a lot of pain. My whole life changed. I can’t do this, I can’t do that, etc. I started to grieve the loss of what my body use to be able to do. With the direction of Marielena, I learned I can have days where I cry or get frustrated, but I don’t have to stay there. I was provided the tools to keep going. I’m now in water aerobics and learning the guitar. Marielena is so super easy to talk to, which has never been easy for me. She pointed out my resilience and helped me realize I am strong and I can still do things. Nobody understands chronic pain and how tired it makes you, so having Marielena who understands this makes the world less lonely. Marielena has had such a positive impact on my life. I do not know where I would be without her.”
